State Assembly Minority Leader Stepping Down
Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 -- 8:08 AM
(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz is stepping down from leadership.
Hintz announced his departure as Minority Leader as of January of next year. He's has served as Minority Leader for over 4 years and says he's helped Democrats hold their positions in the Assembly while the state dealt with serious issues.
Hintz says while leading the Dems, they helped stop Governor Walker's deal with Foxconn, pushed for more accountability with road funding and budgets, are working to ensure fair maps, and guided the Assembly to retain and gain seats for Democrats.
Hintz hasn't named a successor, or if he will run for office again. Wis-Politics says both Caucus Chair Mark Spritzer and Joint Finance Committee member Greta Neubauer have expressed their interest in the role.
