(Bob Hague, WRN) -The city of Marshfield is looking to hire new police and fire chiefs.
City administrator Steve Barg says the process of filling the police position is underway. “The commission is looking at candidates. They’re working with a company called McGrath out of northern Illinois . . . and they’re expecting to be interviewing candidates next month.”
Barg says everything is fine, as both the fire and police departments are looking for new chiefs. “Is everything right, are we safe, is everything okay. And I think one of the things that has happened in both departments is that there’s been a good leadership structure built beneath the individuals.”
Marshfield’s fire chief Scott Owen retires in January, and the city has been without a police chief since reaching a separation agreement with Rick Gramza earlier this year.
The city is also looking for a new finance director and wastewater superintendent, and has a vacant Mayor's chair. Barg admits all that puts the city in an "unenviable position" but they are surviving.
