Governor Evers Urges Lawmakers to Tell Their Constituents to Get Vaccinated

Friday, December 10th, 2021 -- 10:01 AM

(Bob Hague, WRN) Amid the latest surge in new cases Governor Tony Evers wants state lawmakers to urge their constituents to get vaccinated against COVDID-19.

Evers made that plea to legislators this week. “They should be encouraging local people to get vaccinated. They are leaders, people do listen to them, whether Republicans or Democrats.”

We reached out and heard back from Democrat, Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz. “I agree with the governor, because the best way to get this over with and contained is to vaccinate as many people as possible.”

The office of Democrat, Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley provided links to social media posts where she urged people to get vaccinated. Republican Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steinke wrote a September editorial in which he said getting vaccinated is a personal choice, but he strongly urges people to do it.

Governor Evers also urged legislators to, “Get on the media, talk about the importance of vaccines. We just can’t let our hospitals go into crisis mode here folks. And we need everybody to do that encouraging.”

Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz stated, “It’s just more important than ever to be vigilant and encourage people to get vaccinated, explain why it makes a difference, not just to their own health but to everyone else.”
