UPDATE: Incident in Marshfield, Suspect in Custody

The Marshfield Police Department responded to a residence in the area of Popp Avenue from Mann Street to Spencer Street on Thursday in reference to an individual making homicidal statements.

The individual exited his residence with what appeared to be a long-barreled rifle. Upon being confronted by officers, the individual retreated back into his residence. Members of the Marshfield Police Department were engaged in an ongoing dialogue with the individual in an effort to bring about a peaceful resolution.

The individual was eventually taken into custody without incident. The Marshfield Police Department would like to thank the Wood County Sheriff's Department, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol for their assistance in this matter.
