(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Lawmakers are proposing legislation that would allow the Wisconsin Propane Education and Research Council to levy a voluntary assessment to propane dealers in order to create safety and training programs.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to information released by Cooperative Network, which states Senate Bill 699 would designate funds to help establish consistent training, education and safety programs for propane retailers; promote the use of propane; and educate consumers on safety and related matters.
The program will also provide funding for propane appliance rebates as well as training for emerging markets such as propane powered vehicles and buses.
Sponsors of the measure include Senators Jerry Petrowski of Marathon and Rob Cowles from Green Bay, as well as Reps. John Spiros of Marshfield and Calvin Callahan from Tomahawk.
