Wisconsin Cheese Production Falls in October

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) After seeing nine consecutive months of higher production, cheese output in Wisconsin fell below year-ago levels during October.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, the state produced 288.6 million pounds of cheese during the month.
That was 2.7 percent less than last year, but a slight 0.3 percent increase from this past September, which had less days on the calendar. Nationally, about 1.15 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in October.
That was a 0.9 percent increase from 2020, and 0.8 percent more compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month. Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 23.9 million pounds, which was up 12.4 percent from last year, and 10.8 percent higher compared to last month.
