Wisconsin's COVID Numbers Going in the Wrong Direction Again

(Bob Hague, WRN) Two years into the global pandemic, and Wisconsin’s COVID-19 case curve is again going in the wrong direction.
Dr. Bill Hartman with UW Health said, "The curve actually looks very similar to what we saw last November when we had the beginning of a pretty deep surge of patients coming into the hospitals with COVID-19."
Dr. Hartman with UW Health continued, “It takes an emotional toll, it takes a physical toll, and people are leaving medicine. We’re at a critical point now where we need even more nurses, more doctors to be able to care for all the patients that we’re seeing. Many medical providers – nurses, doctors, therapists – are exhausted and worn out. It’s hard to see people pass away in such a way as COVID-19 does.”
The Wisconsin Hospital Association reports fewer than five ICU beds available in the four regions that make up northern Wisconsin. Hartman says that’s one of the reasons that getting vaccinated and getting boosted on top of the vaccination is important.
