Thursday, November 18th, 2021 -- 9:32 AM
On Wednesday, the Assembly Committee on Transportation voted unanimously to pass Assembly Bill 510, authored by Representatives John Spiros (R-Marshfield) and Donna Rozar (R-Marshfield).
The Bill designates the Deputy LaVonne Zenner Memorial Bridge on State Highway 13 over U.S. Highway 10.
Representative Donna Rozar said, “It is wonderful to honor such an individual who dedicated her life to protecting the citizens of Wood County.”
Deputy Zenner was a trailblazer as one of a few females in law enforcement in the 1980’s. During her career, she was employed as a reserve deputy for Wood County, a deputy for the City of Pittsville, and a full-time deputy for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. She was killed on August 3, 1989 in a devastating car crash. She was in full uniform at the time of the crash.
Assembly Bill 510 now awaits a full vote in the Assembly. It will then move to the Governor for his signature. The Senate has already passed this Legislation.
