Jackson County Sheriff's Department Investigating Suspicious Activity Involving Children

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an increase of suspicious activity involving children.

According to the Department, they’ve received multiple reports of individuals in vehicles approaching unsupervised children and talking or interacting with them.

The Department has investigated each case, and while they don’t feel there’s any reason for parents to be alarmed, they do ask everyone to be vigilant and ask parents to speak with their children about what to do should that situation occur.

Some other tips the Department provided include:

Walk with someone or let family or friends know which route you will be taking;

When walking alone, try to remain in lighted areas and in the public’s view;

Stay aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious incidents;

If you believe you are being followed, make others aware and if you feel that you are in danger, get away;

And, finally, be a good witness. This will help law enforcement in their investigation.
