Wisconsin's Cheese Production for September 2021

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cheese plants made more product during September when compared to the same month a year earlier.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, the state produced 288.9 million pounds of cheese during the month. That was 1.9 percent more than last year, and 1.9 percent higher than this past August.

It was also the ninth consecutive month of year-to-year increases. Nationally, about 1.14 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in September.

That was a 3.3 percent increase from 2020, but down 0.5 percent compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month. Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 22 million pounds, which was down 1.3 percent from last year, and 11 percent lower compared to last month.
