A Humbird man involved in a two vehicle accident that resulted in the deaths of two Neillsville women reached a plea agreement in Clark County Court.
Back in December of 2017, Trenton Bemis was driving in the Town of Pine Valley after bowling with friends that night. His truck crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle killing two Neillsville women.
The women, both single mothers, were 29-year-old Michelle Kunze and 35-year-old Genie Carrillo. Arresting officers said Bemis’ BAC was 4 times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
During his court appearance on Thursday, Bemis was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Several other charges were dismissed and read in.
As part of his plea deal, the state will cap the prison term to 24 years with 6 years of initial confinement and 6 years of extended supervision consecutive to each other. His sentencing was set for January 25th.
