(Bob Hague, WRN) The state’s free tax assistance programs need volunteers.
Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca said, “You do not need to be an accountant, or even have financial expertise. We’ll train people.”
Barca says volunteers helped file 28-thousand electronic returns during the last tax season. “Our volunteers, and those of the AARP and other volunteer organizations have done a remarkable job.”
Barca says volunteers helped file 28-thousand electronic returns during the last tax season. “It’s just a vitally important program for elderly people, people of low income, and people that just may have a disability, that need help filing their taxes.”
Training will be provided and several types of volunteers are needed. You can start the process of volunteering at the Department of Revenue website, revenue-dot-w-i-dot-gov.
