Clark County NRCS District Conservationist Jane Reigel says the Lake Dubay Watershed is one of only two watersheds in the state eligible for the new Conservation Security Program. The Watershed includes parts of Clark County. CSP offers payments for five or ten year contracts, which include a basic stewardship payment, plus additional payments for conservation enhancements.
At minimm, farms will need to have good soil erosiion and water quality practices in place.
In the two years the program has been in place, the average payment has been over $7,000. Signup will be held at the NRCS office at the USDA Seervice Center in Neillsville, Feburary 13th through March 31st.
