The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a report of a house filling with smoke Friday evening.
According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, they received the call around 8:30am Friday evening of a house filling with smoke at W5258 County Road H in the Town of Weston.
When the Department arrived, they found the owner of the home had used a fire extinguisher on the air exchanger on the furnace, which extinguished the fire. The Department checked for other fire extensions, but found none.
The damage was confined to the area of the furnace and there was no structural damage. The Department vented out the smoke. They were on scene for 50 minutes and they had no injuries on their part. They received mutual aid from Greenwood who was on standby with water, but it wasn’t needed.
