Granton School Board Hears Recommendation Regarding Compensation for Granton Community Child Care Center

The Granton School Board heard the Administration’s recommendation for the Granton Community Child Care Center in regards to compensation.
The Board approved the Administration's recommendation for Granton Community Child Care Center compensation retention & hiring benefits. In addition, a referral bonus of $300 to any current employee who refers a new GCCCC employee who is still with the District at the end of the school year. Also, $50 will be paid to the employee after the first day of work is completed. The balance will be given at the end of March 2022.
The Board approved the Early College Credit & Start College Now applications, approved an Early Graduation Request, and approved the tree removal and safety upgrades for the school tower, not to exceed $8,000.
The Board also approved an update to the School Board Policy Chapter 10, Section QA, Bullying & Harassment as presented. There is a new form online that will be available on the school website.
The Equestrian Team was the Spotlight on Education this month. Team members are Abby Schoessow, Charlotte Hanna, & Grace Verhalen. Mrs. Aumann, Instructional Coach, presented a short PowerPoint and explanation of their competition.
They are Grand Champions of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Horsemanship Association District 6, Division C. The State HIHA competition will be held in Madison over Halloween Weekend.
The Granton Students of the Month are Joseph Roehl for the Elementary, Kennedy Young for the Middle School, and Dolorosa Thomas for the High School. They are all recognized as caring and compassionate students.
Mr. Chistopher Marquez, Granton’s Spanish Teacher, is recognized as Staff Member of the Month for the October trait of compassion. He is recognized as a very caring teacher.
Jordan Berg, Student Council Representative, reported on FFA and athletic activities for Granton students. District Administrator James Kuchta reported the membership for Granton Area School District is up about 10% from last year.
Open Enrollment in and out increased and several new families moved into the district. Membership is up 18 students and Full Time Equivalents students are up 24 over last year.
Ms. Kim Aumann, the District’s Instructional Coach, updated the board on educational opportunities for students including WIN, or What I Need, mentoring of students in homeroom; ZAP, which is a middle school student lunch-time program for homework help; Ketchup and Mustard Days, which are designated days that students “Catch Up” on school work and “Must” turn in the work; after school homework help program for students; and Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 14th from 1-8 pm.
Administrator James Kuchta updated the board on information including Granton Community Child Care Center monthly report; GCCCC grants were awarded for Safe, Healthy & High Quality Child Care and Staff Recruitment and Retention efforts totaling $52,595; and a School Board Retreat work session was held with Mr. Kuchta on October 6.
Two topics discussed included the Granton Area School District Strategic Plan progress and future compensation and benefits for employee groups.
