Wisconsin Offering Help With Energy Payments

(Raymon Neupert, WRN) If you're worried about making your home energy payments this winter, the State of Wisconsin is offering help.
Home Energy Plus is a state-wide heating assistance program, and administrator Barbara Klug says you don't have to own a home to be eligible for assistance.
"And we're always pleased when more people apply for energy assistance. That's what it's here for and everybody who is income-eligible has a right to receive this benefit."
Klug says the assistance looks at a number of factors, including home size, the number of people in your home, and what sort of heating you have. "As long as you have an energy burden, and are billed by an energy provider, you are usually, as long as you're also income-eligible, able to apply and receive a benefit."
Klug says a number of factors have added up to a spike in natural gas costs. "There's not as much natural gas storage in the United States we've been exporting more and then we had a very warm summer and so people were using their electricity more running air conditioners."
