Wisconsin's Air Quality Continues to Improve

(Bob Hague, WRN) Wisconsin’s air quality shows continued improvement.
The steady improvement includes fine particle concentrations that can impact breathing. “The entire state meets federal particulate matter standards, as well as nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and lead, and that is a huge success.”
The DNR’s Katie Praedel says the annual Air Quality Trends report shows concentrations of monitored pollutants are decreasing around Wisconsin, with a majority of the state meeting all federal air quality standards. “We’re just always happy to share this report out. It highlights all the great work that we have going on across the state.”
Praedel said, “The 2021 report continues to show improving trends in Wisconsin’s air quality, which reflects the success of regulatory programs over the past several decades. In essence, concentrations of most pollutants regulated under the Clean Air Act have been decreasing in all areas of the state since monitoring began.”
