State Representative Frank Lasee (R-Bellevue) wants to expand that option to county residents as well. Lasee says its an avenue for them that's currently being denied. The bill allows citizens to circulate a petition calling for a new ordinance or resolution. Lasee says county government would then be required to enact the ordinance or place it on the next regular ballot. The board would be unable to undo the action for at least a couple of years after its enacted. The Bellevue Republican says the proposal provides another level of control for local residents.
