Local Convenience Store Giving Back this October

Local convenience store Weiler's is giving back this October.
A long time supporter of Soup or Socks, Weiler's is helping support and promote the organization's Best Snow Day for children ages 3-12 years of age. "We are excited to launch this new project to help families in our community and surrounding area," said Cheryl Lewis Hartl, Director of SOS.
"This will be modeled after the Best First Day that we do for school clothing in August." Donations of neutral-colored snow pants, snow boots, and winter pajamas sizes 3T-16 are needed.
Donations can be dropped off by October 29 to the following locations: Soup or Socks (200 S Lincoln Ave), Weiler Convenience Store (2005 N Central), Hotel Marshfield (2700 S Central).
Hartl said that as a kid on a cold day, she loved to play outside, bake cookies, and have hot chocolate to warm up. Her goal is to help kids have the proper outerwear to be able to enjoy this experience like she did.
"The items we are looking for to give to children are snow pants and boots, so they can play outside at home and school. Pajamas are an item we used to keep in our clothes closet, but due to limited space we no longer keep those on hand. We thought it would be a good way to get these very necessary items out to kids at the beginning of winter," she said.
Weiler's will also be hosting a Community Blood Drive On Thursday, October 14 from 11:30am-5:30pm at 508 N Central Avenue, Suite 102 (next to Versiti Blood Center donor center).
Everyone who donates will receive a limited edition t-shirt while supplies last and their choice between a $10 Weiler gift certificate or $15 car wash token. Appointments are appreciated, but not required.

"I wanted to tie these two great events together to hopefully raise awareness for both," said Mayer. "We live in a very giving community and I can't wait to see how this turns out!"
"Boots and snow pants are expensive; we estimate the cost per child to be $60 and if you have several children to buy for, it can be a huge expense. Trisha Mayer and Weiler's have been so kind and generous in helping us out in our other projects, adding this to the blood drive that seemed to fit right in," added Hartl.
"We will be focused on 3K to 6th grade, for this year. We will have families register ahead of time and then have a day and time set for them to come and pick out the things they need. They may find a few surprises when they come in as well!"
