Wisconsin Hospital Association CEO Says Current Wave of COIVD-19 Hospitalizations Different From Last Fall

(Bob Hague, WRN) Wisconsin Hospital Association CEO Eric Borgerding says the current wave of COVID-19 hospitalizations differs from that seen last fall.
“More people are recovering from COVID this time around, and that’s due to a number of factors. But they’re also typically taking longer to recover, and they’re in the hospital longer. You know I talk to a lot of my members. Their average patient is in their fifties. A lot more people in the ICU with COVID than in the past, proportionately.”
The state Department of Health Services reports an overwhelming majority of those hospitalized with COVID are not fully vaccinated. Borgerding says health care workers are tired, stressed, and frustrated.
