Wisconsin Egg Production Down in August

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin egg production during August was 171 million eggs, down 11 percent from the same time last year and six percent below the previous month.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the USDA's latest Chickens and Eggs report, which stated the average number of all layers on hand during August was 6.68 million.
That's also 13 percent and five percent lower for the year and month, respectively. Eggs per 100 layers on state poultry operations were 2,554, two percent higher than August 2020, but down one percent from July 2021.
Nationally, egg production totaled 9.39 billion in August, up slightly from last year. Production per 100 layers was 2,442 eggs, down slightly from August 2020. Total layers in the United States totaled 385 million, up slightly from last year.
