Neillsville School Board Approves October Calendar and Educational Plan

The Neillsville School Board approved the October calendar and educational plan as presented.

The Board also approved the CESA 10 construction management agreement, approved the early graduation request from five students, and approved the high school English Novels course as presented.

The Board also approved the high school English British Literature course as presented, approved the donation of 100 masks from Zion Lutheran Church in Coby as presented, approved the donation of multiple school supplies from Cummins as presented, and approved the donation of 30 bicycles from the United Way & Cummins.

In employment matters, the Board approved the hiring of Jennifer Roenz as a teaching assistant, Debbie Schoen as a teaching assistant, and approved Nic Kuhn as a teaching assistant.

The Board also approved increasing the starting wage for food service workers to $13.50, approve the addendum to the support staff handbook covering Covid leaves as presented, and approve the addendum to the certified staff handbook covering Covid leaves as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on new teachers, attendance, a PBIS update, Warrior of the Week, picture day, Rachel’s challenge, reading instruction, and a thank you to staff.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on attendance, building improvements, climate/culture, fall sports, a chorus fundraiser, and picture retake day. High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on attendance, open campus, homecoming, and a thank you to summer staff.

Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on the upcoming WASB regional meeting, the City of Neillsville’s 2021-2041 Comprehensive Plan; the Neillsville Improvement Corporation’s September 13th meeting agenda, a Committee for Education Funding update, a recent property patrol report; and a press release from WASB Director John Ashley.
