Discussing the Yellowstone Trail
Friday, September 17th, 2021 -- 11:00 AM
Back in 1912, a group of small town business men in South Dakota began a project to establish a useful automobile route across the country.
The Yellowstone Trail, as it is known today, runs from Washington to Massachusetts. It even runs through Wisconsin including right in Clark County. The route begins in western Wisconsin in Hudson and runs east through Clark County, hitting the communities of Stanley, Thorp, Owen, Withee, Curtiss, Abbotsford, Colby, Unity, and Spencer before hitting Marshfield.
It ends in south-eastern Wisconsin in the Kenosha area. I spoke with John and Alice Ridge, two former college professors and residents of Altoona, and they discussed the trail in more detail.
As mentioned, if you’d like to learn more about the Yellowstone Trail, you can go to http://www.yellowstonetrail.org/index.html. You can also order John and Alice’s new book on the Yellowstone Trail.
