(Bob Hague, WRN) Some 400 Afghan refugees will be resettled in Wisconsin.
That's what a state source with knowledge of the situation has told WKOW 27 News in Madison. On Wednesday, the Biden administration began notifying governors and state refugee coordinators about how many Afghans from the first group of nearly 37,000 arrivals will be resettled in their states.
More than 8,000 refugees are being temporarily housed at Fort McCoy. It's not clear how many of them will be among those permanently resettled in Wisconsin.
