Wisconsin Worker Shortage Likely to Continue

(Bill Wise, WRN) Wisconsin’s shortage of workers continues as Labor Day passes.
The president of the Greater Green Bay Labor Council says he believes the problem will continue. Steve McFarlane says the end of the additional 300-dollar federal unemployment benefit may not offer business owners much relief.
McFarlane says Wisconsin had a “pretty major worker shortage” even before the coronavirus pandemic. The U-S Department of Labor says last weekend’s expiration of the extra federal benefit could impact about 33 thousand Wisconsin workers.
The Job Center of Wisconsin reports there are more than 117 thousand jobs available in the state.
