Wisconsin Congressmen Discuss Afghanistan Withdrawal

(Bob Hague, WRN) Members of Congress from Wisconsin disagree on what's occurring in Afghanistan.
Dane County Democrat Mark Pocan says the failures there date back 20 years.
"I think this was inevitable. Even if they were there another for another 5 years or 20 years, I think you would have had some of the same scenes. Having said that, I do think we should have started the withdrawal folks earlier, and that would have made the transition easier."
Green Bay Republican Marj Gallagher says President Joe Biden wasn't bound by the withdrawal deal the Trump administration struck with the Taliban
"The Trump administration’s deal, which I disagreed with by the way, I criticized the Doha deal at the time. But still, there was pretext for ignoring that deal, and embarking on a different course, and maintaining a small presence in Afghanistan."
Pocan and Gallagher appeared in separate interviews Sunday on WISN’s "UPFRONT" program.
