(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin egg production during July totaled 181 million eggs, down eight percent from a year earlier and two percent from last month.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs report, which stated the average number of all layers on hand in the state was 7.02 million.

That's 10 percent and six percent below the same month in 2020 and June 2021, respectively. Eggs per 100 layers for July were 2,572, up slightly from last year. Nationally, egg production totaled 9.39 billion during July, up one percent from last year.

Production included 8.10 billion table eggs, and 1.28 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.21 billion were broiler-type and 74.7 million were egg-type. The average number of layers totaled 385 million, which was slightly higher than in 2020.
