Two Taken Into Custody After High Speed Chase in Trempealeau County

Two people were taken into custody after a high speed chase in Trempealeau County on Sunday.
According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department, two people were traveling south on Highway 93 near Elk Creek Sunday afternoon around 4:30pm. When the Department tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and reached speeds of 105mph. When the vehicle entered the City of Independence, spike strips were deployed.
The vehicle avoided the spikes, but swerved and hit a truck head-on. Two occupants in the truck were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The two individuals that fled authorities were airlifted to the hospital. Their names were not released at this time and the investigation continues.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Independence Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Independence Fire and First Responders, Tri-County Ambulance, Arcadia Ambulance, Mayo One Helicopter, and Gundersen Air Helicopter.
