(WRN, Raymond Neupert) The Department of Natural Resources is looking for more partners to install and manage deer disposal bins to prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease.
The Department of Natural Resources is continuing their efforts to improve detection of Chronic Wasting Disease in the state's deer herd. DNR Wildlife Health Conservation Specialist Amanda Kamps tells WXPR in Rhinelander that they're hoping people can adopt and donate to install new C W D collection dumpsters.
“Because then hunters can dispose of that carcass waste instead of having that remains placed on the landscape to decompose naturally because that could be one of the transmission pathways of CWD."
Kamps tells WXPR in Rhinelander that it’s a way for hunters to get involved with deer management. "Certainly these are all great actions that that hunters, or even if you're not a hunter yourself, you're a conservation organization there's any type of organization out there or individual that wants to participate can have have a role in that."
If you want to adopt either a collection dumpster or kiosk, head online to D N R dot W I dot Gov to find out more.
