(Bob Hague) The sudden collapse of the Afghan government could mean some refugees being setttled in Wisconsin.
Dawn Berney, executive director of Jewish Social Services in Madison, told the Journal Sentinel it may have as little as 24 hours to confirm it can accept a refugee or a family, who will then arrive as soon as two to three days later.
She said typically the agency receives two weeks to three months' notice. Mary Flynn, program manager of Lutheran Social Services, said she her agency has heard there might be an increase in Afghan refugees but doesn't have any specifics yet.
