Marshfield Police Department Releases Name of Suspect in High Speed Chase

Friday, August 13th, 2021 -- 9:08 AM

The Marshfield Police Department has released the name of the man involved in a high speed chase.

Police attempted a traffic stop on a 44-year-old Gerald Pearson of Medford who had warrants for failing to register as a sex offender, reckless endangerment, and possession of drug (amphetamine) paraphernalia.

Pearson crashed his vehicle in a ditch on Clark County Highway K (Sparks Rd) near Pine Ln after spike strips were deployed by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, and a pursuit intervention technique was performed by a Marshfield police officer.

Following the crash, Pearson was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. There were no injuries caused by the incident, but Pearson was medically cleared at Marshfield Medical Center as a precaution. Pearson was transported to Wood County Jail.

He appeared in court for a violation related to this incident.  The Marshfield Police Department thanks the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and the Clark County Sheriff's Department for their collaboration in this arrest and their assistance in bringing it to a safe resolution.
