A Black River Falls man that used a child as a shield during a standoff has been sentenced in Jackson County Court.
According to court records, back in June of 2018, authorities had a warrant to search a home in the Town of Alma. While they were searching an outbuilding, which was part of the warrant, Juan Aguilar pointed a rifle out the window at the deputies.
A perimeter was set up and authorities tried to convince Aguilar to come out of the home. Eventually he did, but he was carrying a child in his arms. He was also challenging and charging authorities while he had the child. Eventually, he let go of the child and was arrested.
Aguilar was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, two counts of bail jumping and one count of recklessly endangering safety. He was sentenced to 11 months in prison and four years of probation.
