Wisconsin Farm Land Rose During the Past Year

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Despite the tough agricultural economy, the total value of all land and buildings on farms in Wisconsin rose during the past year to an all-time high of $70 billion.

According to the USDA, the average acre of cropland rose to $5,280, up 1.1 percent; with pasture values also rising by more than 1.0 percent to $2,520 per acre.

Overall, farm real estate, including land and buildings, increased seven percent to $5,190. As of January 1, Wisconsin had a cropland rental rate of $138 per acre.

Non irrigated cropland rent averaged $133.00 per acre, while irrigated fields went for $237.00. On average, pastureland in Wisconsin rented for $37.00 per acre. U.S. farm real estate value averaged $3,380 per acre for 2021, up $22.00 from 2020 levels.
