Wisconsin Congresswoman Reintroducing Worker Relief and Credit Reform Act
Tuesday, July 27th, 2021 -- 1:01 PM
(Bob Hague, WRN) Congresswoman Gwen Moore is reintroducing her Worker Relief and Credit Reform Act.
The bill would expand the definition of work to include unpaid caregivers and low-income students. They would become eligible for income tax credit and could potentially receive tax refunds.
Stay-at-home parents and those who care for sick family members would benefit. "The pandemic has demonstrated to us, it has shown us in plain black and white, that we need bold policies to tackle our poverty crisis, to invest in our care economy."
Moore says the legislation includes an option to get about three-fourths of the refund paid out monthly, rather than waiting for a one-time larger refund at tax time.
