Granton Village Board Hears Fall Fest Update

The Granton Village Board heard an update on Fall Fest.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the new treasurer for the Fall Fest Committee is Nicole Walz. There are 3 prepaid campsites for the Fall Fest Ball Tournament. The back ordered electrical pedestals for the campground have shipped. Trenching will start on Monday.

The Clark County Library Associations will have a booth at the Clark County Fair. Kay Heiting, Granton’s Librarian, has requested the Village approve her to work up to an 8 hour shift at the Clark County Fair booth.

Her hours will be covered so the library will not be affected and she will have her phone if there are questions. The Board approved the request. The Board also walked the property behind the barber shop and discussed the sale of the property.

The Board believes the property encompasses two separate parcels owned by the Village. A survey of the lot lines and new description of the property would need to be completed.

The Board approved the sale of the property for $1.00 plus the closing and survey costs and pending definition of the lot. Clark County Emergency Management Director John Ross reviewed the packet information and the importance of having a plan in effect should disaster ever strike.

Quick Documentation is the most important part. He suggested having a dry erase board available for use as a quick numbering service with a photo insert. The Board also heard the various reports.  With the Water Report, the tower will be drained down this month to allow for Tower Inspection.

They sold Lynn Dairy water and attended the outdoor event in Plover. They also installed the memorial bench for Drinsinger, installed the toilet in the back office, replaced the hard drive in the laptop, and hauled dirt to Dahlke’s House.

The Board heard the Waste Water Report. The Mower was repaired and the board questioned the continuous repairs and discussed replacement. The board requested they do some price checking and advise them at the next board meeting.

They also assisted with Dahlke’s house clean up and in locating the water and sewer lines so they can be capped. They’re working with the contractor on Boushon’s property and the sewer install and stump grinding completed in the cemetery.

The Board also heard the Clerk’s Report. The board instructed the Clerk send out installment bills to the Park n Rec for $1,000 for good faith payments on the park rent. The first bill was sent out June 1st with a due date of June 20th. The bill was not paid.

The 2nd bill was sent out with a due date of July 20th and to date has not been paid. She received permission from the board to sign the COVID Release form and the assurance compliance and applied for updated Sims and Duns numbers which were also required.

Once everything was in place, she submitted the request for the COVID Relief Funds in the amount of $36,005.98. The first installment was received and transferred to the account set up for the relief funds. The annual Library board meeting is at 6:45pm on Aug 5th.

Also, the Military Convoy will be in Clark County July 31st-August 1st. The Military Vehicle Preservation Association will be traveling the Yellowstone Trail from Aberdeen South Dakota thru our area on to Conneaut Ohio. a 25 day trip.

Clark County has the fortune of hosting this convoy on July 31st at their lunch stop over in Stanley and they will be escorted thru Clark County for their night Meet & Greet in Abbotsford. This convoy includes over 40 restored military vehicles and an estimated 100 plus convoy participants. Farm Tech Days in Eau Claire will be July 20th-22nd.

Finally, the board heard the Treasurer’s Report. The Deposit and Expense report was presented. The Checking balance is $45,969.92, the Fund Balance is $641,685.19, the Cemetery CD is $16,927.29, the CDBG balance is $32,210.23, and the Library balance is $35,335.96.
