Granton School Board Approves Academic Standards for Next School Year

The Granton School Board approved the Academic Standards for the next school year.
The Board approved the Academic Standards for 2021-22 including the Common Core State Standards, Wisconsin Model Academic Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.
The Board also approved the CESA 10 Package Contract S for 2021-22, approved the 2021-22 Elementary and Middle School/High School Student Handbooks, and approved the 2020-21 Seclusion & Restraint Report.
The Board also approved WIAA Membership Renewal for 2021-22 to include wrestling, approved a motion to waive Athletic Participation Fees for the 2021-22 school year, and approved student accident insurance through Student Assurance Services for $4,458 for the 2021-22 school year.
The Board also approved replacement of roofs B, B1, B2, and D for $132,500, pending administration approval, from Maurer Roofing Inc., approved up to $10,000 for initial work on the parking lot project, and following an executive session, accepted the resignation of Bethany Franklin as Special Education Teacher.
The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board regarding a summer activity update, the School Spirit Store, and new staff.
Superintendent James Kuchta stated that Kerber Rose as the new auditor firm for the school district, they’re monitoring class sizes as it pertains to staff needs, and the Spanish teacher’s, Christopher Marquez from Chile, temporary work visa has been approved for one year.
Also, the Granton Area School District July 1 state aid estimate shows an increase of $175,000, the preliminary end of year budget shows a surplus of $176,000, and he noted a possible rate change in day care rates in 2022.
