Greenwood School Board Approves Academic Standards for Next School Year

The Greenwood School Board approved the academic standards for the next school year.

The Board adopted the Wisconsin Model Academics Standards as the District standards for 2021-2022 academic year. The Board also approved the 2021-22 Elementary School Student/Parent Handbook, received an update on summer projects, maintenance and repair, and approved the 2020-2021 Budget Transfers.

The Board also received a 2021-22 budget update from Ms. Zimmer, approved a preliminary budget for 2021-22, approved participation in the 2021-22 Federal School Breakfast and Lunch Program, and discussed ESSER funds plans and planning.

The Board also approved updates to policy 8510-Wellness. The Board received an update on staffing. All teaching positions are currently filled. The District will be posting for 2 Support Staff positions at the elementary school.

The Board also approved the Coaches and Advisors, New Teacher/Mentor, and Substitute Employee handbooks. In employment matters, the Board approved the 2021-2022 Administrative salaries, approved the resignation of Heather Brehm from her 4K Assistant position, and approved the employment of Hannah Olson as a district substitute teacher and Susan Steffen as the K-12 art teacher.

The Board also approved the High School Choir trip to the Dorian Festival and the FFA trip to FFA National Convention. Finally, the Board approved the $700 from Wolf’s True Value for improvements to the softball field.

The Board also heard the various reports. They heard the CESA 10 report from Mark Shain. Elementary Principal Joe Green provided an update on Summer School. The Hunter Safety course will run in early August.

An update on the projected 2021-22 elementary school enrollment was reviewed and staff will continue to receive training on using technology to enhance instruction.

District Administrator Todd Felhofer provided an update on the 2021-23 State Budget process. Governor Evers signed the budget. It will take a little time to analyze how the budget will impact school districts.

Also, the district received Silver-level Certificates of Recognition from CVTC for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. This recognition is based on the number of transcripted credit courses the district offers.

The district also received approval for four district career pathway maps from the Great Northwest Leadership Committee. Finally, he stated there will not be a Baseball Co-op with Loyal the next season.

Finally, during the communication from the public portion of the meeting, a community member asked if the district had considered using some of the federal relief funds to pay down/off any district debt.
