Monthly Testing of Outdoor Warning Sirens Happening Today
Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 -- 11:00 AM
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center is continuing the monthly testing of the outdoor warning sirens.
These tests will take place on the first Wednesday of the month between 5 and 6PM, meaning the test will take place today, July 7th. The tests will continue to take place through the summer and fall months.
If there is severe weather in the area the test will be postponed. The test will go on as scheduled if there are clouds or rain in the area. These tests are necessary to make sure the equipment is working properly so if it is needed in an emergency the most effective warnings can be provided.
The use of outdoor warning sirens should not replace other sources for emergency information such as NOAA All-Hazards Radios, signing up for the Clark County Emergency Management Nixle alert system, and monitoring of local television and radio during severe weather events.
The sirens are designed to alert you if you are outdoors. They are not intended to warn you inside your homes or places of business.
