Funds Raised the Past Year for FFA Close to Half a Million Mark

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Financial support behind the Wisconsin FFA continues to be near the half-million dollar mark.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, during the 92nd Wisconsin FFA Convention in Madison on Tuesday, State FFA Foundation Board President Janet Scheider announced that sponsorships and other contributions to the organization have totaled $461,906 during the past year; and that the organization has also raised $2.57 million over the past five years.
Attendees also heard from State FFA Foundation Director John Hromyak, who credited sponsors for continuing their financial support amid the pandemic.
Also on Tuesday, student members were recognized in various events. Speaking contest winners included Mia Hillebrand, River Valley, Discussion Meet; Aubrey Schilimgen, Marshall, Extemporaneous Speaking; Jeremiah Ihm, Lancaster, Prepared Public Speaking; and Olivia Olson, Lake Mills, Creed Speaking.
The Mauston FFA won the Jr. High Quiz Bowl Contest, and Amery earned top honors for Parli Pro. Sydney Folk, Weyauwega-Fremont, was selected as the 2021 winner of the Junior High Essay Contest.
Individual Proficiency Award winners were also recognized on stage. All of the state winners will advance to national competition this fall at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Attendees were also motivated throughout the day by various speakers, including National FFA Vice President David Lopez and musical entertainment by The Peterson Brothers.
The convention continues on Wednesday with more award announcements like the State FFA Star Awards, adult recognition, the induction of candidates earning their State FFA Degrees, and the naming of the 2021-22 state officer team.
The conference wraps-up on Thursday with the naming of the National Chapter Award winner and the announcement of the new state FFA president.
