AUTHORITIES SEARCH FOR PREGNANT THORP WOMAN
Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005 -- 11:53 AM
The Clark County Sheriff?s Department is seeking information about a pregnant Thorp woman who was last seen November 12th.Christine Rudy, 21, hasn?t made contact with anyone in over a week. Her husband, Shaun Rudy, called the Thorp police department to report his wife was missing on November 14th.
He told authorities that he left Christine, who was six-months pregnant, on the road after an argument. She was possibly left near the Clark and Eau Claire County Forest south of Thorp.
Shaun Rudy is believed to be the last person to see Christine.
Chief Deputy Jim Backus of the Clark County Sheriff?s Department says Shaun Rudy has been cooperative in the investigation and they have no reason to doubt his explanation of the incident.
The couple had no other vehicle and no one has heard from Christine in over a week; it remains unclear what may have happened to her.
"That's up in the air. If we can locate her and speak to her, that's the only way we'll be able to answer those (questions)," Backus said.
He says detectives have not ruled out foul play. "We're treating this as a missing person at this time. If the information leads us that way, we'll treat it that way. At this time it is not."
The Eau Claire and Clark County Sheriff?s Departments conducted a search of the area on Sunday and Monday, but found nothing.
Christine Rudy is described as a white female, 5?4?, about 145 lbs., with blue eyes and blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a gray zip-up jacket, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Clark County Sheriff?s Department at 1-800-743-2420.
