Wisconsin All Milk Price for September Lower Compared to the Previous Month

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Wisconsin all milk price for September was $17.70 per hundredweight, according to the latest USDA Agricultural Prices report.That's $1.70 lower than last month's price and $2.20 below year-ago levels. The U.S. all milk price for September was $17.90 per cwt, 20-cents higher than Wisconsin's price, but 90-cents lower than the previous month. Twenty-one of the 24 major milk producing states had a lower price when compared with August. Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block cheese price closed at $2.78 per pound on October 30, while barrels were $2.53 per pound. The CME butter price was $1.39 per pound.
For the week ending October 24, the Agricultural Marketing Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $2.66 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $2.07 per pound. The U.S. butter price was $1.51 per pound.
