-Parents and students at the Thorp School District held a walk out Thursday morning to protest some reported bullying in the district.According to a post from a parent of a middle school football player on Facebook, her son was held down and other players passed gas in his face. They also called him a lot of derogatory names and hit him with yard sticks and belts. She also went on to state that she believed those responsible were given in-school suspension and had to clean tables in the lunchroom. She believed the punishment was not sufficient enough.
Thursday morning students, teachers, parents and even the administration and some board members held a walk-out and told stories of bullying they’ve experienced. The Thorp school board met with district administrators in an executive session Thursday night to discuss the situation.
