New Black River Falls Business Holding Ribbon Cutting this Saturday

Thursday, October 29th, 2020 -- 10:03 AM

-Black River Falls has a new business in town. It was Oct. 1 The Broom Closet opened its door for business.

Welcoming customers to the 338 Main Street location are Wenona Kelly, Beth Pfaff and Nichole Siler. Kelly has lived in BRF for about 10 years. Pfaff is a BRF graduate and Siler, a Melrose-Mindoro High School graduate. What they have in common is that as a team, they work together to provide metaphysical healing and art. Kelly tie-dyes a variety of clothing items, using professional dyes to create long-lasting and vibrant colors on T-shirts, and dresses, with plans to include hoodies and blankets in the future. She also welcomes custom-orders. “I learned the art of tie-dying from my stepfather,” shared Kelly. “I’ve done it since I was a little girl and now, it’s a way to keep my stepfather’s memory alive.” Kelly also makes jewelry and will be adding to their selection of oils, salves and other natural products. “This is just the beginning,” said Kelly. Siler’s Nana P’s Emporium shares healing crystals she brings back to town. “I drive truck three weeks out of every month,” explained Siler, “pulling campers and horse trailers. So, as I’m traveling I find all kinds of crystals. Right now, I buy them wholesale; we hope to do our own tumbling and polishing soon”. “Each crystal has its own color, energy, vibration and is able to help with all different kinds of healing,” explained Siler. “Some people just hold them and they’re able to relax.” The crystals can be placed in one’s home, his or her car, any number of places, or simply held, and, according to Siler, each crystal has certain properties that can help the body overcome a host of issues it might be carrying.

Siler also makes dream-catchers that are sold at the store. The store also has a variety of other unique items that it sells. “We’re all kind of going for a natural holistic healing,” explained Pfaff. Pfaff provides massage therapy and Reiki healing. “Reiki is using a calming energy for healing,” explained Pfaff. “I channel energy into another person that can provide physical, mental, spiritual and emotional healing.” “A person definitely has to be accepting of and open to that type of healing,” said Pfaff, “but it helps release suppressed feelings or emotions so healing can begin. Once that suppression is released, everything inside the body begins flowing. When people suppress feelings or thoughts, they stay there. Reiki can help clear those blocks so energy can flow freely.” Massage and Reiki appointments can be made after store hours and Mondays (call 715-896-4316 or message The Broom Closet on Facebook). Store hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. The Broom Closet is closed Sundays.

“We have been working so hard to get this to where it is,” shared Kelly. “We are very excited to be here.” An open house and ribbon-cutting is planned for Saturday, Oct. 31, beginning at noon. The name, The Broom Closet, Wenona explains, “Nichole and I have been dreaming about this for years. Nichole said it about four years ago and it just stuck. Once we started telling others, they remembered it right away, and we thought it was perfect. We do plan to get actual brooms in the store soon. We were down at Perry Creek for our first business meeting and met a woman there that shares a similar path who makes brooms. How perfect.”
