Wisconsin Egg Production Down Compared to Last Month

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin egg production during September was 182 million eggs, about two percent more than the same month a year earlier, but down five percent from a month earlier.According to the USDA's Chickens and Eggs report, the average number of all layers on hand was 7.62 million, up seven percent from 2019, but one percent below last month. Eggs per 100 layers for September were 2,384. Nationally, egg production totaled 9.03 billion during September, down two percent from last year.
Production included 7.81 billion table eggs, and 1.22 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.14 billion were broiler-type and 81.0 million were egg-type. The average number of layers totaled 384 million, also three percent less than year-ago levels. September egg production per 100 layers was 2,354 eggs.
