-The Greenwood School Board received an instructional update at their meeting on Monday.Students and staff are all working hard to close the gaps created by the closure last spring and move forward in the curriculum. The board also discussed a proposal to provide more planning time for staff to better address the demands of providing instruction in-person, 100% virtual, and to students in quarantine. Teachers have been asked to forego preparation periods to sub for absent teachers. The board also approved several days as e-learning days including Friday, October 30th; Friday, November 13th; and Friday, November 20th. Teachers will report to school for planning and preparation and there will be no school for students on these days, but these days will be e-learning days. The board also approved the purchase of a new Helical Head Jointer for the Tech Ed Department.
The board also reaffirmed that building use requests will be evaluated on a monthly basis. The focus will continue to be on those events which support students and children. The board also tabled a discussion on youth sports building use and directed administration to develop a possible plan. The board also reviewed how the Spectator Guidelines for fall sporting events are working. The board also received an update on the 2020-2021 budget. There have been a few changes since the Annual Meeting. The projected Mill Rate is now $9.93. That would be the lowest rate since 2002. Finally, the board received an update on the CARES and GEERS Funds.
