VANG CLEARED IN UNSOLVED CLARK COUNTY MURDER
Wednesday, November 16th, 2005 -- 8:38 AM
Clark County investigators are now satisfied Chai Soua Vang could not have committed the still-unsolved murder of James Southworth. Lead detective Kerry Kirn says he?s received confirmation Vang was working as a truck driver in the Twin Cities on the day the 37-year old Medford man was shot to death in a wooded area in the Town of Lynn back in 2001.Last year?s developments in Sawyer County prompted Clark County detectives to name Vang a ?person of interest? in the slaying.
Witnesses in Clark County saw three Asian men and a Nissan-type pick-up in the area where Southworth was hunting. The Sawyer County slayings stemmed from a trespassing dispute, and Clark County authorities believe Southworth was probably murdered by a trespasser.
