Wisconsin Farmers Likely To Set Records

Monday, October 12th, 2020 -- 8:50 AM

The latest crop production forecast from the U.S. Department of Agriculture continues to show that Wisconsin farmers will likely set records during the current harvest season.

Wisconsin Ag Connection reports that farmers in the Badger State are expected to harvest about 539 million bushels of corn this fall with yields averaging 186 bushels per acre. If realized, it would be the highest yield on record, surpassing the 178 bushels farmers averaged per acre in 2016.

The report further noted that soybean production in Wisconsin will likely reach an all-time high of nearly 110 million bushels. The October 1 forecast yield is 55 bushels per acre, which would be 8.0 bushels above last year; and would break the previous record for yield set back in 2016.
