Owen-Withee School Board Hears Referendum Update
Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 -- 9:05 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board heard a referendum update at their meeting on Monday.District Administrator Bob Houts shared with the board a couple of documents form Market & Johnson regarding the building project. The first was a referendum communication plan for the months of September, October and November. The second document was a sample of the information mailer regarding the referendum. A rendering of what the project will look like and a site plan are yet to be added and the mailing will go out by the end of the week. The board also approved the hiring of Zach Feind to be a middle school football coach, replacing Jeff Reasmussen. While numbers are low, it is essential to have two coaches at practices and games. Also, a high school position will be cut this year due to low numbers.
The board also heard the Seclusion and Restraint Report. Each year state law and the DPI require school districts to report to their boards the number of times that seclusion and restraint are used for securing/disciplining students. No incidents of seclusion and restraint were reported for the 2019-20 school year in the Owen-Withee School District. Finally, the board heard the preliminary 2020-21 enrollment numbers. Preliminary numbers of students enrolled in the district for 2020-21 show 488 students. For full time equivalency and aid purposes, 4K students count as .6 of a student, so their full time equivalency count is 472.
