-The Neillsville School Board, and community members present, heard a report from Neillsville District Administrator John Gaier at the district’s Annual Meeting on Monday.Mr. Gaier stated that the finalized budget will not be available until October 15th, but the numbers provided were the best estimate for now. He also stated many factors are in the air regarding the state and federal budgets. Some points of interest Mr. Gaier mentioned included a new board member, covid-19, safety grants, projects completed, facility upgrades, the science of reading program, redefining ready program, declining enrollment, free meals being extended through the end of September, 100 kids choosing remote learning for this school year, but having the option to come back at any point. He also stated that they call it remote learning and not virtual because some kids don’t have internet access, so they are provided with material to learn at home.
The board salaries and per diems were approved at their current rate. They also approved reimbursement for expenses. The board also approved allowing the district to sell equipment, materials, etc. between now and the next Annual Meeting. The board also approved the sale of property between now and the start of next school and they set the date for the next Annual Meeting in 2021.
