Granton Village Board Update

The Granton Village Board heard an update on the Triumphant Life Property at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, Mary Domanico, County Treasurer, advised that the county will begin foreclose on the property this fall. This process usually takes a year as a title search is required, the search results have to be published for 90 days and then there is a 60 day waiting period before foreclosure. Once this procedure is complete, it is then turned over to the Public Property Committee. The board also heard an update on the dump truck. It was advised the dump truck is in and ready for Monroe to do the install package. A fall delivery is anticipated. The board also heard a residents complaint about water run off at her property on Granton Road. The resident stated that the culvert that crosses County Road K west of the water tower dumps into her front yard. Her yard is not able to handle the amount of water that is forced into her front yard and causes a drainage issue.
The clerk will take pictures and contact the county to find out who owns the culvert and a possible solution. The board also reviewed two sidewalk grants. A resident at 211 West 2nd submitted an application for the sidewalk grant to replace the sidewalk in front of the house for the amount of $2,150. The resident at 219 Maple Street submitted an application for the sidewalk grant to replace the sidewalk in front of the house for the amount of $1,750.00. The board approved the 50% grant in the amounts of $1,075 and $875. Finally, it was stated that Cooper Engineering will submit the “intent to apply” for the DNR loans for some projects including to replace sewer line on County Road K, replace shut off valves, replace lateral sewer lines into houses on K and add Water lines and sewer lines up to Hwy 10 and add a fire hydrant.
